    Default Bluegills before after spawn

I’m planning to fish for bluegills, shell crackers etc more this spring and summer. I kinda know when where crappie are during different times of the year but where are the bluegills before and after the spawn. Do they usually stay in schools, move to deeper water or separate and just hang around structures close to spawning areas. Thanks

All the above. Really the bream can be found in any of those areas with cover being the first place I look.

As has been said…all the above. But I have also seen after the spawn they stay up shallow next to the banks. Observed this several times at Laurel Hill Lake…water temps got as high as 92 degrees….but they stayed shallow.

    Regards

Always had to predict on a particular piece of water. Cover would be my first choice as well.

To be completely honest, I stumble into them. I’ll pick a piece of shoreline that looks fishy and start picking it apart. I don’t end my casts early and work them at a slow pace almost all the way to the boat. I’ve found them 30’ or more off the bank on a flat or ledge, crappie too. The solo fish you find doing that are just icing on the cake. I’m sure you’ve already been told that there’s no better teacher or way to find them than time on the water. I’ll add to that the fact that I learn and notice more when I go by myself.
