    Default Weekly meetup. 3-30-23

We met up today at the boat ramp where I caught the nice hybrid last week .
Since that day the lake level went from about five feet low to almost flood stage to about two feet down today and had the color of chocolate milk . There were logs and trash all over the lake . Too much stuff in the water to fish . We kept getting hung up on stuff .
I knew it was going be a tough day .
We moved down lake hoping to find better conditions.
The water was stained but nothing like it was at mid lake .
    Still had floating debris everywhere.
My buddy caught four fish before I caught a small bluegill to get the skunk off . He was throwing a roostertail.
I stuck with my jigs and ended up catching , three spotted bass , a couple of green sunfish , and two bluegill .
Last fish was the best fish of the day , a nice spotted bass for ultralight . I love how these fish pull and seem to never give up.
All caught on Trout Magnet jigs on my 6’3” Abu Garcia Mass Beat travel rod and 2# P-line .

A great trip. Put a smile on my face. I’ll bet those green fish had their way for a while. Are you using panfish magnets or crappie or trout size? I bought a panfish magnet kit yesterday and haven’t tried em yet.

Mostly the trout magnet size , but today because conditions were so tough , I switched to a white mini trout magnet to get the skunk off . I caught my first spotted bass on that tiny 1/200th jighead .
My favorite is the sowbug TM on either a 1/64 or a 1/32 TM head . With the tail colored chartreuse with a Zoom dye marker .

Nice outing. I tried fishing mini Mags years back…..just couldn’t see well enough to tie them? That Sow Bug is the real deal.

I don’t have any problem tying the jighead on , it’s trying to thread the tiny mini TM body onto the hook that gives me fits .

I know why some folks used to have the attachments on the frame of their glasses with a couple of round lenses that could be moved into place and used and out of the way when done. So far I can still get it done but the background color makes it work better.

The two lakes I fish in middle Georgia are so muddy I could plow them with a mule.
