Default I'm not trying to be ....

other than what I been trying to be lately.
All I have to do is think of me,
and I have piece of mind .
I don't want to be anything other than me.
Went after a few bluegill as soon as the ice went away.
Nothing stellar , but ketched us a few decent ones .
We give and take on our rides out west to the family place in the country.
Stop here and there and barter off a few things and end up looking good in the grocery dept.
1st stop was a beef run , second stop was eggs ...and, we wasn't the ONLY ones looking for food either!
The deer were out in droves trying to get some caloric intake and the sandhills have begun to go back north .
Played around at our place and examined some tracks and our new fence along the north side of the place. One set of boar hog tracks looked darn deep in the sand for sure !
The bluegill were parked on the bottom once again and it was rather chilly , tough to feel or get a bite ,but hey someone's gotta do it right ?
KABOOM is the word for sure .....
p.s. YES there was a little bacon in there with them rib eyes, roasts and hamburger too ....

if you know anything about tracking and tracks and many here do , the sand in this image is super saturated and even a truck don't leave much of a track in it. I think it might be the tank of a hog I saw a few weeks ago, on thing for sure positive, it will take a VERY well placed shot to bring down a hog the size of the one that made that track ...

Had a buddy that had a place right outside of Groesbeck TX. He raised cattle but the hogs gave in fits. Said I could hunt the place whenever I wanted but I was only allowed to use a rimfire rifle due to him having cattle on the property. I became a sniper with a 17 WSM in my hand. I had to pass up alot of shots because those critters don't like to stay still much. I learned that putting that tiny bullet in their ear hole meant DRT. He sold the place 7 years ago and I have not shot a hog since. It sure was fun while it lasted.

new owner is still probably having same issues with those hogs. have you approached them about continuing your hog removal work?

For the most part Texas landowners are real sticklers when allowing strangers to hunt their land. In most cases it either no or they will do it for a fee.
