I plan to drop shot with trout magnet panfish size. I normally use their jig head but not to drop shot. These gills will mostly be 9-11 inches in 15 -25 fow. My first thought is to use Gamakatsu drop shot/ split shot hooks in a size 2. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Id use a longer shank #4

My drop shot rig for fishing ultralight drop shot for bluegills in our town pond which is a shallow pond is a 1/16 dropshot weight 14-18” below a 1/80th jig with size 8 sickle hook .
I fish small plastics on the jig or a hand tied woolybooger 1/80 jigs . I have gone down as small as a 1/200 Mini Trout Magnet jig and tiny plastics.
Never had one swallow the jig .

For any fish over 10", #4 straight shank hook for sure! Fish ignore hook size and focus on lure action and general size. Heck, I've caught decent size crappie and perch using a 5" plastic worms rigged on a #4 hook & ballhead jig.

I like a size #8 hook for gills. A #2 is way to large for the gills I fish for. That is a crappie hook in these parts.
