So this might be a dumb question but what is the purpose of high visibility line? Wouldn’t the fish see it? Living in TX and stained water everywhere I am just not sure? Would this be a good line for stained water and crappie fishing? What kind would be the appropriate kind? Lots and lots of choices from the Verivas Company.

So one can see the line. Due to age I can no longer see clear mono lines. I need to see my line. I’ve not experienced crappie being line shy.

    Regards

I think there are as many favorite lines as there are people who fish with them. For most of my life I used the cheap mono from the sporting dept. of stores like Walmart. In 2021 I started chasing crappie after a long period of in activity. I watched many a video and after finding this board, reading a lot of posts. I started with MR. Crappie 4 lb and 6 lb mono both in high vis and clear#4 high vis won out as I caught more on it than any other. I then tried a braid that was inexpensive, and it worked just fine also. Because of the evil necessity of work, and at times health, I sometimes have a long period of inactivity and the mono tends to coil. I also take the time to stretch it out and it works just fine again. I am going to be testing a high vis braid soon. Like Ketchn, I am in the can't see the line.... line. . I like the light line and the challenge it takes to land a bigger fish demon with it. I haven't caught enough crappie to be an expert as to what is best, but I have caught several using high vis and several using clear and a few with braid. So, I personally think it is up to the individual as to what they prefer to use. The fish just want a meal

I have alot of different lines but lately I have been using 4lb Sufix line in Tangerine orange. Seeing your line is crucial when crappie fishing because many times the jump in your line is the only way you will know you have a bite. One of the keys to being a good crappie fisherman is becoming a line watcher.

Stren High Viz for me spider rigging. I think I am using 10lb. Will let you straighten out the LW Eagle Claw hooks when you get hung up. I don't know if the fish can see it or not. I can.

I really like crappie maxx 4lb yellow. Its the only crappie maxx that is any good IMO, and it is very good for the price. Its limp, soft, easy casting, and it goes on sale for $5 for 3200yds so you can replace it every trip if you want

Never really thought about seeing the line for yourself. I always thought about the fish being spooked or not biting due to the color of the line. I also am reaching the age of tough line sight!

    Thanks
