Got below freezing last night , was 44 when I left home at 10:20 and 52 when I reached the the reservoir to meet up with my fishing buddy .
Partly cloudy and light winds I thought we were in for a good day .
No even close .
The lake , that was up last week , was a couple feet lower this week .
Between the cold nights and water fluctuations , it has the fish out in deeper water than we can reach from the banks .
I managed to catch one rough looking LM and a green sunfish that came unhooked when I raised my rod and dropped into the boat ramp expansion groove . I tried to find him with my fingers but there must be a way out under the ramp . All I felt was cold water .
My buddy stunk it up . Not even a nibble .
I sure I could have done better at the town pond .
But it was fun being out . I got in a couple of good walks trying to find an area that had some active fish .
Rough looking skiing bass but was fun on the 7’ Daiwa Procyon UL and Daiwa Fuego 1000 LT . Lure was a Bobby Garland Baby Shad coppernose dyed chartreuse.
