Default A Quick but Proper Sliming

I received my 5’ Daiwa TROUT X AT N 50XUL rod yesterday and couldn’t wait to try it out .
    I paired it with a size 500 Carbon X reel and 3# Flouroclear P-Line . TROUT TROUT X AT
A cold front arrived last with the coldest temps so far this fall . 44 degrees with a wind chill in the upper 30’s when I left to take my wife for her hair appointment. 47 degrees at the lake . But sunny .
My local green sunfish spot is only eight minutes from her hairdresser, so I had about an hour to drive there , fish for about 40-45 minutes while she got her hair done
The lake has been gradually being drawn down .
Luckily a few rocks were still covered with water today . As I worked my way down the shoreline rip rap jigging around the rock , I had a few small green sunfish nibble at the black Trout Magnet but no takers until I switched to a green/black TM . I caught one and had a couple come loose as I lifted them out of the water .
Occasionally I would flip a cast away from the bank , looking for bluegills.
One one cast, I thought I was hung , but it started moving.
Turned out to be a nice LM bass that gave me a drag singing fight . A proper breaking in .
I caught two greenies , the bass , and a small spotted sunfish , a beautiful little fish .
My hookups became better after switching to a Bobby Garland Itty Bitty Swimmer. I think with the smaller tail , the little fish were better able to get it into their mouths .
The rod works great for what I wanted it for and handled the bass without issues .
About as close to perfect of a rod for catching micros as I could hope for . Very sensitive , I could feel every little bump , even when the 1/64 jig would bump a rock.

I just got finished reading about the spotted sunfish here in my state of Georgia.
A new state record was set back in 2019 by a fish caught on a beetlespin weighing in at 11oz .
    Most average about 3oz .
I thoroughly enjoyed playing that bass on my new rod , but I’m just as thrilled catching the little spotted sunfish .
I think this is my fifth one this year .

Neat little rod. I’m sure you’ll have fun with it. Good size bass to break it in too.
