    Luckily he fell on shore

That one's so small, I think he's still got some egg on him.

They may be small, but they have some big ambitions ! Nice looking little fish.

I love the vivid markings on the little ones. The blues and purples seem to show up more when they’re small.

    Default Micro Creek Fishing

I fished lake McIntosh for almost an hour this morning and got skunked l
Knowing the local old mill creek would probably be super low , I took off for it with hopes of getting the stink off .
I started out fishing a 6’ Abu Garcia MB203 UL with a Shimano Soare bb 500 and Daiwa J braid .
Flinging a micro spinner in water I could see the bottom just about the entire creek .
But the little guys were still there and cooperated.
I caught ten total , in about forty minutes . Two on the Abu Garcia combo , the rest on a 6’ Daiwa Trout X XUL paired with a Daiwa Fuego LT 1000 and Daiwa J braid.
This combo would cast a few feet farther , and easier .
A bonus was the way it felt when I hooked one of these creek micros .
Most were juvenile redbreast , but a couple were small bluegill , with a little shellcracker that stole the show , even leaping a couple of times in the shallow creek .
Saved the day for me .
I was wishing I’d brought the 5’6” XUL , it casts the micro spinners even better .

Those are some fun sized and good lookin fish. I’m still liking the looks of the trout X. Got one that looks close but it’s just tastefully put together for my likings. Might wind up with one, one day.

This little guy wouldn't take no for an answer. It attacked again on the second retrieve and got hooked.

Spent a couple hours chasing tiny fish . That seems to be all that want to bite with the heat wave continuing.
We are in what I’ve always been told were the dog days of summer. 90’s+ daytime and it only gets down into the mid 70’s by morning.
I left the house it was already in the lower eighties and twenty minutes later I got to my first stop and it was already 87 with a heat index in the mid 90’s . We talking 10am .
I caught five small fish at Lake McIntosh and moved to the old mill creek and caught six total .
The largest was a PB for a spotted sunfish , that I caught in the mill pond above the dam .
Until yesterday I’d only caught three of these rare little fish and in two days I’ve caught four .
I fished my 5’ St Croix Avid UL’s but today I’d spooled my Shimano Soare XR and my new Presso 1000 with 2# Floroclear.
So much easier to cast the micro spinners I’ve been using.

Another pic of my PB Spotted Sunfish .
Excuse the dirt on it , I had a time getting him to stay still for a picture and had to rinse him off twice .
I was afraid he would get away before I could get a picture.
