Gun, yes it is. I’ve bought another that’s only 4’3” that’s considerably stiffer. I was told that this one is a phoenix blank and put together just for something to do in slack time around the office. In short, he goofs off and does better work than I do. Thanks for noticing.

Micanopy, yes it does. What I can’t figure out is how to have it up and me be in the shade and be able to swing a rod without it getting in the way. As hot as it is lately I could sure use the shade.

Thanks for all the good thoughts folks, I really appreciate it.

Great to hear you are healing up, Skeet! The redear as big as your tackle box, my goodness. However that thick looking coppernose have me thinking NOT to skip out on a visit to Perris Lake, Ca. next year when Springtime rolls around. Thanks for sharing!

LV, if I had another chance to visit lake Perris it would be at the top of my things to do list. I can only dream of bluegill that size. The monster red ears at Havasu haunts my dreams as it is!

Seems even though we live practically a country apart, Skeet, our to do list is almost same. Told wife and daughter that when time comes and permission granted I’d love nothing more than spending a week at your neck of the woods in Florida just fishing…lol. For a multi-specie fisherman like myself, one cannot ask much more diversity than The Sunshine State has to offer. Starting out in my younger years chasing Leopard sharks and big stingrays out SF delta, I now long to get my hand (line) on a few Snook out of some salty flats or pull up some the introduced species like Peacock bass out of a irrigation canals….sigh.

LV, you need to go just a bit further south of where I am to fill that bill. I get an occasional snook but no peacock or the other invasive panfish that are gaining fame down south. A fly rod and a day on chobee will recharge you quickly. Oscars and cichlids fight like crazy and also good table fare. If I was making the trip for the salty ones I would hire a guide and pay with a smile. I know folks that chase them regular and drive the miles and still draw a blank. When they go out of their comfort zone they now hire someone too. I’m learning from their mistakes.

Bob, the hookset was stout and he stopped the rod. Fora second I was sure I was snagged but it was moving left. Yessir, my heart rate was up some.

Skeet, I sometimes clean forget that Florida is a very long state, just like California….lol. And since we still in subject of invasive trophy fishes, I lifted a photo from the net (fishbrain) just to share with folks here how big these breams can get and why I can’t wait to visit the Sunshine State to see one of them at the end of my travel rod….

Tim- Thanks for re-emphasizing, as you typically do, the answer to the Fishing-equation that we all endeavor to solve = FUN!! Secondly, and more importantly, congrats on the transition from Patient to Patience!. Continue adding REEL to the HEAL equation and your FUN will soon overshadow the past!
