Default A couple of first for Tenkara

This morning it was drizzling but I went anyways and took both of my 6’ Tenkara rods to fish the lake I wanted to fish Saturday but it was too crowded.
Not today . Place was almost deserted.
I’m still experimenting with leaders and tippet trying to learn how I can improve my casting and bite detection.
I caught several little bluegills on my rubber legged spiders and my fifth fish of the morning was a first for me on Tenkara , a warmouth . I went on to catch another a little bigger than the first .
I also caught two green sunfish , which is a first for me on Tenkara .
The green sunfish didn’t seem to be as plentiful as they were before in this location.
A longer floating level leader and shorter tippet seems to be the best so far . I use the tip of my floating leader as my strike indicator.
I try to sight fish and watch for my fly to disappear, but in low light and some water conditions, this isn’t possible.
I caught 22 total this morning in an hour and half .
I don’t think not being able to cast farther is hurting my catch rate .

Skeet , I’ve got a couple more cheap rods on order , and two came in today . Some are less than $20 . I paid $6 and change for the blue rods nine years ago .
I’m waiting until I figure it out before I go JDM .
P.S. The fish don’t know how much the rod costs ?
