    Default Varivas 6.5 pe

The boss sent me some of the Varivas stuff that he has and this line was one he had tried and not liked and taken off. Much different than anything I’ve used so far. I’m kinda excited to give it a try with my tiny jigs and see if I like it. Tipped it with some varivas 4lb flourocarbon leader, something else that’s a first. Hopefully Thursday morning and I’ll let you know.

Looking forward to hear what you think after giving them a try .
I’m particularly interested in the leader material.

I used the rod with the new line yesterday a little and I like the way it behaves. Casts very well and no issues with wind knots to speak of. The fish weren’t active but the few I did catch were on other rods. Overall I’m not unhappy with it, a positive experience. I’ll use it more next time I go and speak a little more on it when I do. It seems to be tougher than the Nanofil I use a lot, but then almost everything is tougher than that. I also use 2lb Sufix nanobraid and find this as tough but more supple. In my opinion, no braid this small gets by without a leader and the 4 lb fluorocarbon leader is as good as it gets. These rolls will slip in a pocket, a big plus over standard size spools I’ve been using.

This is the line I’m using and the type of leader is the same but what I’m using is 4 lb flouro. Limited use so far but Lord help me, I like it.

Tim, I gave you both, stuff I liked and stuff that was just not my style. The not my style stuff was 4lb test and 2lb test. I'm more "bull in China shop" and really only use 6lb test line and above. The light stuff frustrates me because it's so small, I can't tie it! And I don't like to super finesse stuff. I want to pull a jig off a limb and not worry as much. Just the way this bull rolls. But I do appreciate how y'all fish, just not my style.

I have some varivas "super soft" 8lb test line I'm testing right now that definitely is my style. I'll report on it later when I can get out for a tug on the other end. But as of now, I love how limp it is and how it casts from my sea wall.

Yeah we are talking apples and oranges but even that 6lb test braid is so thin I have a hard time tying it. It's strong stuff and flies through the air with the greatest of ease. Looks like a spider web as it floats down in the air. It's good stuff for sure, but just not my style I guess. I just can't tie a spider web I guess.

Not to interject myself here but, is this the same line?
I just got this stuff is a bunch of line I ordered while Varivas has the coupon special going on a few days ago. Huge shout out to Varivas by the way. I ordered on Saturday and had my line on Monday! I fished it for the first time the day before yesterday and thought it was awesome. I was a little worried about the color hindering the bite, but the fish simply did not care.
