Default Few Bream on Bayou Macon Cutoff

Took my mother-in-law fishing today, we ended up with about 70 keepers and ones that swallowed hook. We probably caught around 125 total on worms and crickets. What kind of artificial lures do y’all use for bream?

I use several artificials for bluegill and shellcracker: the Mr Twister micro craw on a small jig head (1/32 oz) in the LA Craw and red/black colors. I also use a Trout Magnet, and as I hand-tie a lot of my own jigs, adding rubber legs and such, I use them a lot, mostly hair jigs in black and natural colors. Many times I will tip the jig with a crappie nibble, Berkley power wiggler, or regular live red wigglers. I find that using a jig instead of a plain hook with wigglers pretty much eliminates the gut-hooking, especially with shellcrackers. Give it a try.

I’ll have to give the jigheads a shot, I’ve never thought about that. I tried some artificial worms and crickets with no success in the past. I’ll probably buy some more and do a comparison of various baits to live bait, when I know they are biting. It’d also be nice to have some for when I come across a bed while crappie fishing.

Great box of fish there! Lots of fish to clean. I also tie my own and use lots of hair of different kinds in natural colors. Minnow colors and imitations also play strong. I use two pound line and throw jigs lighter than 1/32 so most folks can’t use the size I do. I attribute a lot of my success to downsizing to tiny baits. Elephants eat peanuts. I’ve landed some good sized fish on little jigs and line. Be patient and experiment and you’ll find what works for you where you fish. And no such thing as a dumb question, we’ve already asked them too.

tiny handtied jigs with a tiny bit of a "tipper" of some sort will ruin a breams day everytime .
1/32 number 8 or lighter in a few different colors , oranges seem to be popular .
nice box of fish there , KABOOM is the word
