Nice colors on the gills. With the size of mouth and body shape, does appear to be a young warmouth.
My buddy and I met up around 10 this morning at a large reservoir to fish the boat ramps for green sunfish using our ultralight fly fishing gear .
The goal is to try and catch a green sunfish bigger than we have previously.
Today was a day of smalls with the greenies , but I did catch a few decent bluegills and one I’m not so sure of . I think it’s a warmouth .
We fished for about four hours at three different locations , until the heat got a little unbearable.

Nice fish. No marks on the face of the one in your hand which is how I identify Warmouth, but he’s cool whoever his mama was.

Chaser, I thought of you today. I was in an antique shop with my queen and saw a fly rod. Turns out it was a Wright McGill about 6 1/2 to 7’ with a medalist knockoff reel, both in very nice shape. I felt it was worth about half of the $95 they were asking so I moved on. Like most W/M rods it was soft and definitely glass but didn’t feel stupid light. Made me smile for a minute. Hope you’re getting some with your little rods.

I met my fishing buddy just before ten this morning at West Point Reservoir to chase the greenies .
The boat ramp we fished was one we’d fished before. The one where my buddy caught a big green sunfish on his 5’9” 3wt Cabelas CGT .
Today he caught the biggest one again. Not as big as the one before , but a nice one .
I mainly fished my 6’ 2wt St Croix Imperial.
I caught 26 total today , mostly small ones . My two biggest flopped back in while I was attempting to take a picture of them with my rod .
My buddy caught 17 , mostly small ones also .
You have to weed through the small ones to find the bigger ones .
Some pretty bluegills were caught too.
It was a fun four hours until we got ran off from the last ramp we were fishing .
The person “ in charge “ as she told us was telling us we had to stop fishing the ramp and fish somewhere else . She said she would call the police if we didn’t leave .
The sign at the boat dock fifty feet away from the ramps reads “ For loading and unloading only , No swimming, diving , or fishing from the dock “
Ramp wasn’t mentioned.
We left , wasn’t worth the hassle .
BTW , it was a six lane boat ramp and no boats or trailers around .
My buddy and we’re the only ones using that area of the park .

The two “ floppers “ I caught were almost as big as my buddy’s .
The boat ramp is not a good area to try to take a picture of a fresh caught greenie .
I love catching these things
That was just one of the several boat ramps at this reservoir.
This particular one is a park run by the county . Most of the ramps there are managed by the Army Corps of Engineers.
I wouldn’t have argued with those guy like I did this woman . Even if they are wrong .
This woman was definitely wrong but I didn’t want to push the issue . I said my peace and left .
