I would be checking out the tailrace for bluegill. I have fished it only twice but caught a ton of bluegill. Went once with the boat and once from the bank. Nickajack itself is not a very good lake for bluegill. It does however have great shell crackers and redbreast sunfish. Of course the Chicamauga tail race is technically Nickajack lake but for what ever reason the bluegill in the lower part of the lake are not as big or as prevalent. If you do want to fish Nickajack Lake, or Nickajack tailrace you can check out my YouTube channel “TroutMagnetMan” to see where and what time of year to fish that lake for bluegill and crappie.
