Nice bass, try and stay cool.
I knew better , but I paid a visit to the town pond this morning.
Took an UL spinning rod too . My 5’ SC Premier ULF with a Shimano Symetre 500 and two pound Pline .
I started off with the float n fly , went to a 1/32 jighead with a 1” Slider grub paddle tail and caught this bass .
Switched to a trout magnet , nothing .
Went to a drop shot with a Bobby Garland Itty Bitty swimmer, nothing .
Then it was a rubber legged spider on the drop shot , nothing.
Finally I was back to a float n fly using a rubber legged spider . Nothing .
There was dark green snot bordering the banks , but I’m thinking it’s the heat . It’s in the 80’s at night , so the water in this small , shallow pond just isn’t cooling off .
I did see a few take bugs off the surface , so I probably would have had a better chance using my flyrod .

I almost didn’t get a picture. With the grass and green snot boardering the bank , as I was attempting to slide the bass up the bank , the two pound test line broke .
Thankfully, the bass was halfway up the bank and didn’t flop until I was able to grab him .
As for the heat , the heat index when I got home was already 102 .

I like how you beat the skunk. I was looking for one of those this morning, there was a lot of surface activity. I found enough redbreast to think they may be going back to the beds maybe. That bigger one sure hit hard.

I gave the pond a few minutes this morning.
Spent over twenty minutes throwing several different flies without a nibble .
Packed it up and drove eight minutes to Lake Kedron. The lake with the big dock but small gills .
Caught 19 in a little over an hours time . Caught one on my first cast .
They’re small but willing and some put up a good bend in the 6’6” Gremlin 2wt .
A guy on the auction sight used to build and sell these . They’re made on the Green Matrix blanks . This one is a four piece . Packs up small .
I also have it in a two piece and have a 3 piece 7’ 3wt that’s a sweet caster .
I bought this originally to hike in and fish small creeks on our Wildlife Management areas . But never got around to it .
This was the biggest of the morning.
The other, is a beautiful little shellcracker.
