    Default Quick Flyrod Trip

Last night I got my old , custom , 6’6” Lamiglas 3wt. fiberglass flyrod out and dusted it off .
Matched it up with an old Pflueger single action reel and took off for the pond this morning.
Only had a little over an hour to fish .
Started off with a size 12 spider fly and on my second cast , caught a nice bluegill, the biggest today .
Put a nice bend in the old glass rod .
Caught five total , the rest small , with the last one caught on a hopper .

Those old Pfluegers are just beautiful, simple reels. I have several of different sizes, all made in America. The purring of the drag is musical to my ears. I also have an Orvis one from back when they had them private labeled for their glass rods. They will last for multiple generations.

    Another quick trip this morning.
I didn’t get to the pond until around 11:30 and fish about an hour .
    Short trip dodging thunderstorms.
Long enough to catch three gills on my old 6’ Fenwick flyrod , using hand tied foam spiders .
Love topwater action with the flyrod.

    Wish they still made them.
    I’d like to have a 6’6” 2 wt .
This little six footer is actually a five wt.

Another quick trip to the pond this morning.
Hot and humid with very little wind .
Fished just a tad over an hour and caught four fish using my 5’9” Cabelas CGT fiberglass fly rod .
    2 gills , a shellcracker, and a small LM .
I wanted to use my new Butterstick, but needed to try out the CGR with the 5 wt line , I changed to .
    The line worked great .
Going up two line weights allow easier short casts .
My usual casts are 20-25 feet or less . I usually try to parallel the bank with short casts .
When I left the pond around 10:30 , there was only one person walking the track . Too hot and humid for them .
