Another sweet flyrod. How does it compare to glass? And some very nice gills, had to be fun on a 2wt.
I received my 5’6” 13 Fishing Omen ULF this morning, but………
It’s most likely going to be awhile before I try out and report on what I think about it .
It seems like it’s going to be a nice addition to the stable , but …………
I picked up one of my flyrods yesterday and now it’s going to be tough to go back to my UL spinning for awhile.
This morning I took two of my flyrods with me to the pond . A 5’9” Cabelas CGR 3wt., and a 6’ TFO Signature 2wt .
I started off with the CGR with a bigger spider bug I kinda copied from one made by Betts that I picked up the other day .
Fished it for a few minutes in a spot that was productive yesterday and got a couple leg nippers , but no takers .
Instead of changing bugs , I walked back to my vehicle and swapped rods .
The TFO had a small spider already on it .
Instead of going to the dam side of the pond , I decided to give the bridge a try , since there wasn’t many folks walking this morning. And nobody feeding the geese and turtles.
I’m glad I did . I hooked seven good gills and landed five of them .
Ended up catching 10 in about an hour and a half .
I wish I had my measuring board with me , I think one of them may have been 10” . If not , close to it .

Awesome
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
The TFO is a sweet flyrod. It’s a faster rod , the glass is slow depending on which glass . S glass is almost as fast as graphite. I’m not sure what glass the Lamiglas rod is , but it’s slower than slow. I have to really slow down my casting to get it to sidearm or overhead .
The TFO shoots the line better sidearm and overhead casts better than a glass rod , but it fails in the roll cast . Or it’s me .
Once a fish is on , they both are awesome, bending into the handle .

Did you get a weight on new rod?

Very nice gill. Nothing like pans on light weight fly rods.
