News to me!
a professional fisher person friend of mine was on some monster bluegill the other day in a bass tournament , told me the beds were in 6 to 9 feet of clear water and looked like tilapia beds
said he had to move on because they were making him crazy , he showed me one whale that was a bit over 10 inches he caught in that area ,before he traveled on to better bass waters .
just a quick heads up , they do not always bed really shallow is the word

they can actually bed out deeper than that and you can see them on your electronics. every lake and situation is different, it's just so much easier if they are shallow.
buddy and his HS friends do annual trip to KY lake for BG and redear and it was last week and they whacked them shallow and deeper and said they were everywhere.
If you find deep beds it will always hold big bluegill. To date the deepest I have found beds is at 14 feet. Here are some pics from an old 899 si unit back I think it was in 2012-2013 time frame. These beds were on Fall Creek Falls...a trophy bluegill lake.
