Today was windy - again - but the bite was excellent! The fish were in booby trap mode, waiting around until lures set them off via exsplosive strikes!
New designs were tried and every one of them caught fish in 2-6' near pads!
This Mojo chubby grub caught crappie and then a 4 lb bass (note the waves):

A Soft Worm hybrid fused to a French Fry segment caught many fish intil a pickerel cut the line:

The added segment seems to make a big difference at times same as the chubby body added to grubs such as this curl tail which caught everything:

It will never cease to amaze me when fish hit this shape:

A few sunfish had it completely in their mouths!! Crappie of course slammed it in shallow and deeper water:

A 25 mph wind and rain finally got to me, but 70 fish taught me a few things and that made fishing after 1 pm worth it. At least I know where the fish are now for the near future. Patterns are wonderful when they stay put for a while.

What a difference a cold front makes! Two days above 87 degrees finally ending last night. White caps on the lake; bright sun. I couldn't control boat drift with a 10 lb anchor so precision casting in the pads near impossible

Okay, try a different area that has a rocky bottom and no pads. Cast my usual lures but only tail-nipping by fish. Didn't think I'd need small lures and had to improvise - but only in this one section of the lake.

In a different part of the lake, larger lures like this fat-body curl tail and clear-plastic Mojo Grub were attacked even by small fish:

Couldn't take the wind and after 41 fish were caught I called it a day. Maybe tomorrow...

Yesterday had the worse conditions under which to fish slow & finesse lures. Today, Wed. and Thurs. should be ideal: no more need for itty bitty lures!
