    Default the woods ,,,,,

we use floats , almost always for panfish . I carry cheap ones and not so cheap ones .
"the woods" are my favorite , but they are expensive to lose .
most of the time we employ the 35 cent Styrofoam pinch on types comal makes , but if casting distance is important and loss levels are low to impossible , out comes "the woods" at 1.50 to 2.00 a pc.
love me a really low sitting balsa with a light jig on it , will sink at the slightest of bites and rarely give a fish a reason to spit it out . bass pro carries 6 packs of them in their brand as cheap as we can find them here at about a buck 50 a pc.
Thill is often "the wood" of choice but run about 25 to 35 percent higher at most retail spots locally .
that all said , one point pinch on wood pencil style has always been the stuff if you really want to be all that and then some with a float on the panfish .
of course many would argue with me about it , but about none of them ever went ketchn with me , just saying ......
here are some images from the other day using this method of engagement , bass bream and crappie all fall for this on a regular basis here in Texas

The Thill ones are certainly very nice floats. I like them a lot myself

Thill makes some great floats for sure. I grabbed a couple packs of the comal packs you recommended last year and they work well too. I really like the ESB floats when fixed float won't work. I don't often fish with floats though, I'm more of a jigging structure guy.

They are all of that, DSJ, but these days I really like the TM EZ Floats in their panfish size. I usually rig mine fixed but the float has the option to be slip rigged. I guess they are under 40 cents each so no crying when one is lost. They are pretty sensitive when detecting lite biters.

I do use some weighted Mr. Crappie floats. They work well and are not very expensive. They have a glow stick version as well. I started night fishing using Thill balsa stick floats with O-rings holding on the small glow sticks. So I am partial for nostalgic reasons

Good mixed bag on the float, love it when the fish are shallow.

I've spent a lot a of time bobber fishing, I really like the thin pencil style. Thill makes some nice floats, we used to have a Gander Mountain sporting goods store here, I bought a year or two supply worth the first time they went out of business. The company that took over reopened the store in our area, it lasted about a year till they closed it again. The second time they closed it I was ready for the last couple of days when everything is 80 to 90% off. I think I have a lifetime supply of bobbers now.

Thill makes a Pro series slip bobber that has a copper insert so the line slides nicely without cutting into the tube on the bobber. They normally cost close to $3 in the store, I picked up a ton of them for around 25 cents a piece.
