    Default Bluegill, Redear weight?

I caught some nice fish in Aurora, NC saturday. When I came home to clean them, i put a battery in my new rapala digital scale and weighed the biggest Bluegill and the biggest shellcracker. The shellcracker was 10 inches long and the bluegill was a little over 9 inches. Me and my dad just knew they weighed around a pound each. NOPE, the bluegill went 10 oz. and the shellcracker went 11oz. Just learned how difficult it is to catch a 1 pounder, lookin back, i dont think i have ever caught a 1 pounder. Got a reality check, take care creekman

Still some very nice gills. My biggest ever gill was caught down in Briery Creek, VA and it was taken to a certified scale and ended up being, 1.03 and I ended up getting a citation certificate from the state of Virginia on a fine catch. This was back almost 16-17 years ago, and I've not caught another gill so big. Keep on catch'n those monster gills, anything over 9" is a trophy in my book. WTG and thanks for the weight inlightenment.
