Default What Big Eyes you Have !

This Big eyed little fellow was the only thing between me and the skunk this evening.
I went to our town pond first this afternoon. Got there around four . Forty five minutes latter , no bites and the number of park visitors was growing on this warm February afternoon.
Packed up and drove twenty minutes to a different location , hoping to fish the creek below an old local mill dam .
Too much flow to even try, so I decided to see if there was any spots above the dam to wet a line .
Dead vegetation reached from shore out out to about 10 feet except in just a couple small spots on each side of what is call a boat launch .
About my third cast with a Bobby Garland Itty Bitty shad produced this little fellow , my first crappie of the year , caught using a 5’ St Croix Truimph ULM paired with a Daiwa Exceler 1000 LT spooled with 2# P-Line . Thirty minutes of casting different lures and it was time to leave .
The park closes at 6pm this time of year and you don’t want to be around to confront the Marshalls that patrol the park . They treat you like a criminal if you stay past 6 .
It was good to get out .

They all count! Better than a skunk. And yes, that is a big eye!

It is a fish. You went fishing and caught fish. For me that is mission accomplished

I was wondering if this was a juvenile or a stunted crappie ?
The eyes seem a little big .

    To add ,
I’m happy with all that give me the pleasure of tugging on my line . Big or small .
That’s one reason my tackle keeps getting lighter .
I want to feel every little fin .
This little fellow actually pulled a little drag . He fought bigger .

I've caught them smaller than that this year and it's better than getting skunked.

Me too. That’s why I have switched over to U/L 100%. I have also really streamlined my Fanny pack tackle bag as well. I only need a handful of items for hours of fun on the stream.
