Rod looks awesome. Glad you got to get out andcatch a few
I was able to get to the pond today around 3:30 this afternoon to try out my new 6’ TFO Trout & Panfish rod .
I arrived with it setup with a 1/64 jig and a Bobby Garland Itty Bitty swimming minnow, but after only a few casts , I switched over to a micro drop shot with a 1/80 woolybooger jig and a 1/16 weight .
I wanted to see how sensitive the rod was , and if it was going to be a good one to drop shot with .
On my second cast I felt the thump and caught the a nine incher , the best gill of the afternoon and the only one I bothered to measure.
A few casts later without catching anything else, and I switched back to the Bobby Garland Itty Bitty , but rigged drop shot .
I wanted to see if the plastics would catch gills like my tied jigs.
It didn’t take long before a felt the thump and caught my first drop shotting plastics .
This gill looked a little yucky , like he was having a tough time , so I snapped a picture and turned him loose .
I caught another gill and a small bass before the town clock chimed 5 o’clock , time to head home . I gave it two more casts and left .
Using the plastics, I used a 1/64 jig with a #8 J-hook . I missed at least as many fish as I hooked up . Next trip I’m going try a 1/80 jig with a #8 sickle hook .
With small hooks I seem to get better hook ups with the sickle hooks .
