    Default spring is coming

Placed an order the other day to replenish icefishing jigs. Use them all year long. Been out in the shed going thru tackle boxes/poles etc etc. Still fishing some here in Nature coast area of Florida but do 90` of my fishing in NY. When I get my order of over 150 different jigs I will spend time cleaning eye holes out and sorting them to go in different tackle boxes and day dreaming of how good they will work. It amazes me that even on brand new jigs I have to touch up the hook points with the stone but I firmly believe I lose less fish that way. 25` of the joy I get out of fishing is going over my gear, getting the boat[s] and trailers ready and day dreaming about all the lakes/rivers and ponds I can fish in NY without being crowded. Florida is good but I have had to learn a whole different method of fishing here and you can't do weekends cause it is way to busy.

Know what you mean. I just bought myself (Santa) a new tacklebox. It is one of those huge monsters with six pull out boxes. Been having a blast stocking it with lures i'll never use. Like you say...just the thought of going fishing is almost as fun as really going. It will get in the low 50's here in Middle Tennessee Sunday and since I'm caught up on "Honeydo's" i'm going to Nickajack!!!! If it hairlips Hell!

I’m one of those dummies that doesn’t know when to stay home, so my season never ends. The cold has a different effect than years past, meds I’m told. But I still have the time you’ve both spoken of, revamping something that already works to be a bit better. I’ve gotten picky about new tackle as I’m noticing things I’ve carried for too many years without ever attempting to use so they’re getting new homes. My wife asked me the other day where my stuff is going. There’s actually noticeable room in my tiny shop. I use the Plano boxes and just take the ones I need that day. The main box I sometimes carry is a 6 gallon milk crate that I’ve put a half inch plywood lid on a piano hinge on that’s the best for the way I do things. My salt water stuff rides in a small go bag that’s easier to keep dry and remove when I get home. Then I get a little bench time and tie a few jigs and I’m set for a while. I guess we could term them as down time projects, we all have them to some degree.

Even though I get a few warm days to sneak off and fish a little year round ., the winter is the time when I spend too much money buying gear I don’t “need” .
And when I get , “in the mood” , I tie up a few jigs . I’m on my eighth box for this winter , so far . . These are small pocket size boxes that hold 30-40 micro jigs .
I’ll be set for when I can get the boat out and do a real day of fishing . Which is about four hours , now days .

Bwilso, Alpahawk mentioning of Nickajack's prolific fishery almost had me packing my suitcase many times, especially with its variety of bass. I've been to several border states (driving distance wise) west coast including Oregon and Seattle to fish but haven't been to any eastern state to fish or just to visit for that matter. Now that my only child will be in college next 2 or so year that could change. Florida is a must in the upcoming year once safer to fly. Cheers!

Alphahawk is dead on about the fishery at Nickajack. I went yesterday but the wind and cold made things tough. I'll try to post a picture of my biggest bass. They are fat and heavy. I only had four bite and the wind was blowing so hard the Lake was whitecapping. It's too cold to fish but I just can't help it. Everyone on this site has the same disease I have and there is no cure. Alphahawk usually targets the Nickajack Bluegill, Crappie, and Shellcracker. I mostly toss for Bass. Largemouth in the main lake and Smallmouth and Spots below the dam. Good luck in Florida but don't forget the Tennessee River Fisheries...they are awesume!

    Default I am curious

I am curious about the ice fishing jigs you use. Where do you order and how do you fish them? I am fairly new to the panfish game and love learning about different options

What a beauty, BW. Yes, that must be a great fishery. Thanks for the photo.
