I like that! Tried to find those little crimps on line, but not having much luck.

Crimps can sometimes damage line, knots as well, but I would be tempted to skip the crimp and use a Figure 8 knot, then bead, then hook.
Maybe they will bite this one……

What about a really small sinker?

With bobber stops make sure you get one that works and is sized for the line you're using. The ultra thin line doesn't seem to work well with bobber stops.

The rig as shown has a sinker on the bottom and two sliding hooks with beads above that. They are using crimps to prevent the hooks from sliding too far in either direction. Watching the video he seemed to emphasize the rigs ability to stop hook swallowing. Maybe that is a huge issue perch fishing I don’t know.

Crimps can be affixed just so and only cause slight damage to the line. Done wrong they can cause large damage. Tricky to know what you are doing when the line is thin. Again I would use a Figure 8 knot and just see how the rig gets along. The hole in the bead has to be smaller than the knot obviously, and the bead larger than the opening of the hook eye. A bobber stop might work as a cushion between hook and knot, but the eye of the hook might be able to pass over it. The plastic bead will provide a better spin for the hook when it is tightening against the knot.

I learned a lot about crimping from my saltwater days and see no advantage of using one in this application.
Maybe they will bite this one……

One of the keys for fishing yellow perch is being able to get the fish off the hook quickly so you can get your bait back down to the fish quickly. This rig is used on Lake St. Clair where there are huge schools of perch and the fishing can be fast and furious. I thought it also looked like it would work great for crappie. I like the use of plastics and the action the bait had tethered with this rig. It is built on 14# line so the crimps probably are less of an issue. I certainly think if someone were to downsize though, crimps would not be the optimum method to use. Especially after hearing your experience. Thank you. I did buy a couple of their custom plastics and plan to pair them with Bob's Jigs, Slabanator, and Bobby Garland plastics. The wonderbread pattern is popular around here.

For the crimps could use 1/64 split shot or smaller.

They also have another panfish rig that uses a bead with the line passed thru it twice as an adjustable stop.
