Something unusual on the River
Don't know how many Railfans there are out there but I'm sure there are many. Was on the Duck River near Chapel Hill Tennessee Tuesday and saw something i've never seen before. A CSX passenger train in matching livery went by at a pretty good rate of speed. By the time I found my camera a took a picture it was almost two late. Some parts of the country receive passenger service from Amtrac but I was not aware that CSX had their own passenger trains. Any info would be appreciated as I grew up with a railroad dad and still thrill to the sights and sounds of the railroads. This was the highlight of my day (other than getting to get out on the river) as the bite was very slow due to the 53 degree water temp coming from Normandy Res. as they lower the lake to winter pool. Caught five spots and two big Bluegill.

After all my years driving the roads all over the country, I still pause and enjoy a scene like that. Very nice. I’ve been with my wife over 40 years and our ten best years were spent in Tennessee.

Actually I have fished the bridge supports many times and only caught one small Spotted Bass. For some reason they do not hang out there or I just can't catchum. However the rock bank to the right of the supports has given up a 17" Smallie and an 18" Largemouth. I catch lots of fish from the Duck River but they run to the small side. That's OK because I go there for more than fish as you can see. Also all the Spotted Bass from this river have vibrant, bold markings and they are also always fat. There is an abundance of natural food as well as clean, cool water.

What is interesting to me is this passenger train was in Chapel Hill Tennessee and there is no CSX or Amtrac passenger service within a couple hundred miles from here. It must have been some kind of private excursion.

I will post a better picture from an earlier trip. I have a cabin there so I go often. If I'm after larger fish I go to the Tennessee River but the boaters can make an unpleasant trip. No a problem on the Duck River. Rarely another boat and when there is, you can expect common courtesy, unlike the busier lakes.
