Default No skunk today . LOL !

Fished my local reservoir again today .
    A beautiful day , upper 70’s .
Got on the water around noon , fished to around 4:30 .
Spent a little time running around checking out drop offs , creek channels , and flats using my old Eagle fish finder . I heard a total of five beeps , two of those were on a underwater tree .
Caught one bluegill on a hand tied jig , and a dinky little bass on a slider grub .
    That’s it .
My fishing buddy caught three small bass , one was about 3/4 lb and gave him a fun fight on his UL .
Talked to one of the other fishermen out there . He said the fishing was slow , but he’d caught one shellcracker about the size of his hand . I asked him what he did with the shellcracker and he said it was supper . .
I told him that one shellcracker could helped replenished the fish population next spring, but now won’t get a chance .
He said he’d never thought about it that way .
After 20+ years of fishing this reservoir, I’ve never seen it this bad and folks are still taking everything they catch home .
I’m not against taking home a meal sometimes, but after a point , the depletion has to stop .

Thanks guys , this will possible be the end of the 70’s after the front comes in Thursday.
I was going to try and go again tomorrow, but I’m beat . Got my Covid booster yesterday and feeling a little tired .
I did get to fish my two new rods today. A 2022 6’ St Croix Panfish , and a 5’6” Fenwick Eagle 2 . I actually enjoyed the Fenwick over the newly designed St Croix . Not too fond of the new grip . Hopefully it’ll grow on me .

It does look like summer in your photo. Enjoyed the pics. Quick story. It has been awhile but we use to have older guys that showed up with gunny sacks and kept EVERYTHING and I mean everything they caught. Fortunately they were rather lazy and didn’t go very far up the stream. It took a couple of years for some of those areas to recover. I asked one guy how many he thought he had in the sack. He said “oh, about 25”. I said 25 fish? No he saiD 25 kilos! True story.

It’s sad . When the guy yesterday told me he hadn’t thought that , that one fish he kept that day could have helped the recovery of the fish population , I didn’t realized that a lot of them don’t understand how a resource of this size can be wiped out in a short period of time .
He had told me one of the other guys told him he saw lots of fish on his electronics on the bottom of the lake but they wouldn’t bite .
I think he was looking at moss .
I didn’t find any on my Eagle but I did see a lot of moss .
