Hit my favorite bluegill pond this evening after catching some crappie and bass on another nearby lake. Seems this pond always gets hot as the daylight nears its end. It was a fun 20 minutes or so. Used my custom 6'-3" Diawa Presso rod, Picsifun Carbon-X 1000 with a shallow spool done up with Chartreuse Diawa J-Braid X8 PE line, 0.06 mm tied to a Shimano Soare 1g jig head with a Palomar knot cinched to 1.355 Nm. The jig held a Berkley Gulp! Minnow Black Shad, 1".

Even a nice Shellcracker showed up! Haven't tied into one of these since spring time.

And a nice crappie joined the party too.

Pending darkness and some lightning in the distance ended the party.

Finally got some rain after almost two weeks of none.

Good catch, pond fish seem to always turn on right at dark for me as well. Some nice size on those gills. The ODZ head that I have been using is similar in shape to that one and is pretty sharp too, I think Randy talks about it in his latest video.

That jig is called a Drag Head. Very sharp fine wire hook with just the slightest bit of a barb. I like the Diawa Gekkabijin heads better but Alphahawk has cornered the market on those.

Yea, the numbers aren't important really. Some like to post them, so I thought I would this time. The fish, the fish are what's important!

Not sure what happened to that Redear. There are turtles in the pond, so maybe a snapper got it. Didn't stop him from giving me a good fight!
