Default Turtles UP - Fish DOWN

Walked into the small lake today and the painted turtles were soakin up some rays. Carried in a extra rod (fly rod) hoping that some gills might be on top or in the shallow water. Aquatic vegetation receding quite a bit now with the weather changing. Tried for awhile and decided that wasn't gonna work today. Caught a dozen or so, all deep, using various small spoons with either a panfish stinger or 1" tube trailer. No fish were visible from shore and I imagine temps. were more to their liking down lower today. Here's a few pics, thanks for lookin.Name: DSC01311.jpg

What size/type of spoon? I haven't experimented at all with spoons but would be interested in learning how to use them. Also, those are some beautiful fish!!

Nice photos as always. Yeah, the turtles always make me smile on my home creek. All on a long and the biggest gets the best spot and then on down to junior. Funny!

    CTPanfisher,
Here is spoons I most often use:
Thomas Colorado spoon 1/10 oz. 1"
Thomas Little Tiger spoon 1/8 oz. 1"
Thomas Eel Wiggler spoon 1/8 oz. 1 5/8"
    Eppinger DarDevle Spoon 1/32, 1/16 oz. 15/16"
Custom Jigs & Spins Slender Spoon 1/16 oz. 1"
Acme Tackle Phoebe spoon 1/12 oz. 1 5/8"

All USA made (Phoebe spoon is now import).
You want to use casting spoons, however some jigging spoons can also be used for casting. Very good for when fish are deep, retrieve VERY SLOW, stop and go or steady and can be fished off bottom also.(would be good for the perch you are catching ) I changed all mine over from treble to single hook which also is good if you are adding plastic trailers, which I often do. Good idea to add a micro swivel to avoid line twist.Name: DSC01330.jpg

Great photos of some beautiful fish. Curious how you train them to hold their dorsal fins so perfect and lay still? Good job!
