    Default my sons 1st

I know this may not be the proper spot to post this but I just have to show everyone. This evening I took my 10 year old down to one of our favorite smallmouth holes. He caught a few small gill and I caught a couple decent smallies and then he hooked into what I initially thought might be a nice pike.
Boy was I wrong. After a few minutes struggle and a lot of drag peeling he landed this fine catfish. We are from central northern Michigan so cats are really not very prevelant. In fact this is the first one we have ever caught.
We were using 4 inch yamasenkos in watermelon w/gold flecks texas rigged with no weight. When he felt the fish he gave it a good hook set and tucked the but of the pole up under his arm and won the battle. I sure am proud. I hope you all enjoy these photos.

It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D

Congrats on the 1st cat! Looks like a good one. They are good fighters too.
