Smile Eagle Claw on a Rainy Day

We had rain here most of the day. There were a few breaks and I took advantage of one to give the early-70s vintage Wright & McGill Eagle Claw ECP reel a work out. Of course, it has to go with the custom Eagle Claw fiberglass rod. I used a Shimano Soare jig head and some Gulp Crickets on 4 lb SOS line.

Despite some rain drops here and there, the gills seems to like the crickets (lots of real ones around here these days).

Caught twelve in about an hour. A heavy down pour ended the session.

Always nice to see the old classic gear. The reel looks to be in very nice condition. Doesn’t look ultralight, that’s for sure.

I'm guessing it's a 2000 or 3000 size in current day numbers. The ultralight in the lineup was the ECO. Those are harder to find.
