However i personally don't think there's much different between brands of line if ones to use Mono or Nylon as they like to refer it in Japan. Having said that I've always wanted to try out the Varivas Area super ester in 1.4lb. I cant seem to find the diameter specification but remember a member who goes by S_V as quoting the diameter being in the 0.075mm( 0.00295 inch) vs the Ice Magic 0.105mm in 1lb guise. That is crazy thin even for me as i'm nearsighted( I can read 4 inches infront of me without glasses.) The 1lb-er Sufix fits through a #26 to #30 dry flie hooks with clearance so I think what benefits the Varivas will give me will be its non-stretch property, that alone i would love to experience someday, when Ebay sellers stop charging same amount as their line's price just to ship. Cheers!
I’ve fished that line…it is .090mm. I used it one trip and it came off my reel. Even though it was hi-vis I could not see it. I have used some smaller ester also. It was .085mm. If you want to try out some line that small I highly suggest the Lemoni Ester at 1.42# test and a diameter of .083mm. It is more manageable than the Neo Orange line….but hope your eyes are much better than mine. I’ve spent a lot of money trying out JDM lines…..all of the lines I have tried have been good but there are differences. First of all I’m not a huge fan of nylon line…..but there are times when that is what is called for. The only nylon line I have used that I can say I like…..and will use it on a pretty regular basis, is the Twitch Master. Of course I won’t be using it for bluegill fishing.

Thanks Alphahawk, for clearing that up! .090mm is probably the smallest I’ll give it a go assuming my eyes will stay the same for the time being. I’ve no doubt Japanese lines are excellent. Shame I will never get to try all of them as most are out of my price range and I don’t own or intend to own more reels than I already have, so keep switching lines is an issue after a while. Just for reference only I include a photo of one type of saltwater fish I also love target when at the pier for my multi- specie UL outing.

It’s some kind of a sea bream called Salema, a very fast fish that broke my #3 Stren several times out. I know it’s no Aji fish but it’s very close to it if not in size. Cheers!

We had a few Salema porgy in Saudi. They are known as “The fish that make you dream”…LOL. You get hallucinations if you consume it…if not worse. If you will PM me your address I will send you some Neo Orange Ester line at .105mm. I have used this line for several years and caught tons of fish with it but now use the Lemoni Ester line. I have quite a few spools just laying around. If you want it just let me know and as soon as my knee allows me out to the post office I will get it in the mail.
