Default The Fourth is behind me…

Happy 4th everyone! What a better way to celebrate this morning than to head out to one of my favorite ponds across town for some bluegill action and of course stayed away from the madness I call the Las Vegas Strip. I brought my only high-end (to me) rod-a Tict Rockin Finesse, paired with an old ‘13 Daiwa certate 1003. What a combo it was! In about 2 and 1/2 hours I managed 3 gills, 7 greenies, and 12 hybrids! The Rockin Finesse casted variety of lures extremely well and was extremely sensitive, but enough with the well received rod, I’m here to say today was an epic day. It’s the first time I’ve had several hybrids and a green sunfish taken to the air during retrieving. Wonder if the overcast cloud had anything to do with their aggressiveness. Enjoy the pictures!

    LV,
Really nice looking fish, and can tell from the tone of your post that you enjoyed your trip today. You are right about some days the panfish doing a lot of jumping. Could be they were just celebrating the 4th along with you!

Ketchn, I’ve only experienced largemouth bass jumping while shore fishing once or twice many moons ago when Lake Mead water level was at least 5-story higher but never a sunfish that’s why I might of been a little over excited, lol. But I heard folks fishing off Florida coast see them all the time when large snooks or tarpons taken to the air trying to spit out hooks!

Pretty fish and a very good trip. Sure beats the madness of the crowds. I need a trip like that today but it’s off to work I go.
