Very nice looking lake and those are through the roof numbers on some beautiful fish.
Made my annual trip to Laurel Hill Lake this past Friday. While the quality was a little shy of what I had hoped for the numbers more than made up for it….150 bluegill in 5 hours of fishing….beds all over the place. Most were 7.5-8 inches…bull northern strain bluegill. The lure was a Bison colored Trout Magnet on a Daiwa Gekkabijinn 1.5 gram jig head with a #10 hook. Used the 6’ 2” Diplomat Extreme UL Area Trout rod spooled up with 1.8# test ester mono line….also used an 5’ 9” XUL Major Craft Fine Tail Banshee Area Trout Rod, and at times the Daiwa Iprimi 5’ 6” XXUL Area Trout Rod. While I would have loved to have been on Laurel Hill in May I just could not bring myself to pull off the shell cracker at Nickajack. Most of the beds were about 6 feet deep. Life is good…and getting better!
