That sounds like something I would set myself up for. Feel better soon, the fish miss you.
I was all caught up on chores and decided to go get me some gills. Got out on the water and tried my 5 ft UL with a trout magnet. Very first cast I screamed in pain. I had not thought about my injured right shoulder. It hurt terribly to cast. I tried casting left handed and it went poorly but it went. No gills. I tried different colors and different spots. No fish. After 2 hours of left handed messes and no fish I decided to change my tactic totally. I got out my 9 ft jigging pole with a trout magnet. I dipped it into the many pockets in the thick cattails. It worked! About every 15 ft was another pocket and another fish. Every one came off near the boat. All 2-3 lb bass. The trout magnet hook is way too small to keep them hooked. I lost about 20 bass. So all in all I re-injured my shoulder, learned I'm terrible at a left handed casting, learned that trout magnets will catch bass but will not hold them, and learned that if I want to catch bass tell the family I'm going gill fishing. That fakes out the fish .

Although the shoulder injury is not good. The rest of it sounds much better than being at work

Yep, a number 8 hook does make a challenge. I might try a number 6 with 1/32 with the TM and see if your hooking power improves.

I agree that a #6 holds em better but I fish a #8 sickle every weekend and while I do lose a few, it generally holds on pretty darn good. I have noticed that how you thread on the plastic matters with the #8. I try to keep it shallow and not fill the bend of the hook by threading it deeper.
