My thought was a bit less drag and a longer handle on the net. What line do you use now?

The past week I have hooked 2 walleye while fishing for crappie and blue gill. Great fun to real them in on UL gear, but aggravating when the line snaps and they get away with jigs hooked in their mouths. I think I need a more substantial rod and increase the line strength in order to accommodate these critters. I hate it that they are now bedecked with unnecessary jewelry. Any suggestions for rods and reels for these characters? Would the stronger rod and reel set up spoil bream and crappie fishing?

Maybe a short heavier leader for those teeth?

Thanks for the welcome and replies. I am using 6 lb test, which I consider overkill for crappie and panfish, and adequate for the occasional bass. But I did not figure Walleye into my calculations, so maybe a heavier leader will work. I will give it a go.
