Just got this little 3wt. 5'9" 3 piece set up and went out today to give it a go. Cold and very windy and my roll casting left a lot to be desired today to make matters worse. After hooking my shirt I did manage to catch these two on bead head flies. Just watched end of fly line for a twitch before setting hook. Then tried a #14 tiny popper and did hook a few but lost right after hooking. Not aggressive takes, very light hits. Took a few casts with the spinning gear before heading out but only caught one of those dang bass.
Pretty fish.

Gee, too bad about the pesky bass! LOL That little 3 wgt looks nice. Pretty short - how does it cast?

The other rod I have is a 4wt. one piece 6'4". Both are glass. Purchased shorter rods with plans on using in a Hobie kayak I have but have not used for a few years and for use in small lakes and ponds not requiring long casts. I am not a fan of longer rods in a yak and that was one of the main reasons for shorter rods. With practice, I hope to be able to make short accurate casts for panfish. If that is possible, I'll be happy. Slow and easy, let the rod do the work and it goes out there pretty nice. Just have to keep that in my head.
A good glass fly rod with a slow action is a real joy to cast and fish. Keep practicing!
