    yet again along comes another problem child sunfish .

    Always liked the spunk of rock bass. Get into a school of them and it's non-stop action !

    It’s actually a warmouth , sort of similar but not quite the same
    Common in the southern states , we don’t have actual rock bass here

    I have caught warmouth and they are very aggressive. This one struck a 5" Kut Tail worm:

    Yes, We call them Rock Bass, and yes they are good fighters.

    Rock bass are also good eating, have sort of a sweet taste.

    My experience is if you get them before the water warms up they are edible. Once warm, at least here, the meat becomes mushy and is poor table fare. Especially when other panfish are available.
