Those half worms kinda look like those magnet baits.
When I'm after the gills
and a crappie grabs my Creme worm
they are just a BONUS in my book...
Things started off bad today. Rain was supposed to let up but didn't. Last two trips to this pond, the gills were liken' those 1" tubes. Tried them for a hour, changing colors, but not a bump. With all the rain, thought maybe a natural worm would do the trick. Put on a 2 1/4" Creme angle worm on a 1/124 jig head and action right off the bat. Float was sinking, but kept missing or only hooking for a few seconds. Tried wacky rig but they wouldn't go for it. Cut it in half to downsize things and tried again. That did it. Fished between showers and got good hookups on these four.
Ketchn,
#2 was a bonus! You probably heard me laughing all the way down there in TX!

Nice going ! The Gills in my area are s l o w l y starting to move more shallow, been getting nibbles but no takers. I did catch 2 nice channel cats though, it was nice to hear the drag sing again...

Nice catch for your outing. Your experiments paid off. Sometimes a little less is better in the bait department.
