    Default first 2021 shellcracker..


    .. was a dandy. 11", 1.1 lb. Caught fishing for crappie, lil' gray hand-tie on gekkabijin jig head, Berkley nibble.

    Great fish . I find more and more I fish for Red ear more than crappie . Best eating fish ! jmo.

    There's not much info out there on them. I have 7-8 books on crappie fishing, none on redears. Would like to learn more about their biology, habits, and such.

    Probably the smartest fish in freshwater. They don't get that big being dumb. They're addictive, particularly catching them when they're that size. Most people don't target them because they simply don't know the proper way to fish for them....

    I'm blessed to ply the waters of Lake Barkley. It possesses some of the biggest redear in this half of the country.
