I took the Jon boat out on my favorite pond this afternoon. The conditions looked promising after a cold morning. The temperature was right around 70 degrees, no breeze most of the time and a light overcast. I was initially looking for Bass with a weightless finesse worm. I had some other lures lined up but never got around to them. I caught some bass but also had a lot of taps from Bluegills. I decided to follow up these taps by throwing the Beetle Spin on my BFS rig. The result was a lot of Bluegill, some bass and several Crappie.

The BFS rig allow me to throw the Beetle Spin right up next to the bank. Quite a few bites happened there, in very shallow water. I had never used a Beetle Spin like this before. I was also able to throw in and around some brush piles and blow downs to good effect.

I wound up putting 30 fish in the boat in about 2.5 hours of fishing. Sure was a lot of fun. Even landed a 4 pound bass on the finesse worm. I guess the fishing were eating ahead of the storm rolling in.
