I usually start with about 36" of fluorocarbon leader. I usually start casting with about 6" to 12" of line below my rod tip. Sent from my SM-G960U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
The Albright and the Alberto knots are almost the same. The last step of placing the tag end through the mono loop is the only difference. I just measured the diameter of the alberto knot I tied above and it is 0.64mm. Easily pass through a 3mm micro guide.

Great diagram, thank you. What is the advantage of running a heavier leader than your mainline?
Because 4# fireline in under rated. I am not sure what it's breaking strength is but it is higher than 4# in my opinion. That being said I also use 4# fluorocarbon for a leader quite often. Thanks for your comment. Sent from my SM-G960U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app

This works for regular fishing too.Tie one simple surgeon's loop in your braid, and one loop on your leader. The only problem is the leader loop doesn't go want to through the first guide too well.So they need to be about 18 inches or less. The beauty of this is you can make up a couple of looped leader ahead of time, and slip them on real
quick when they break while out on the water.
