I put them in a fly tying vise, and wrap them in thread, and soak the thread with superglue.

For the Gekkabijin 1.5 g jigs I didn't have to, because they have a 6# hook and I use bigger plastic, but... yes, if I do some 1/64 jigs it looks like i'll have to snip off the end to make it fit right.

Do you first make a wrap on the jig first, and then lay the keeper on top, and wrap both together? I do that thinking it will provide a better grip.

Some 20 gauge brass wire and flat nosed pliers make these really quickly, easily and quite a bit cheaper than buying the pre made retainers.

I can knock out about 200 an hour for less that a penny a piece.

I lay a wrap bed of thread down first, then tie on the wire keeper and wrap completely over it. A couple drops of super glue to seal the threads and it’s done. I use a 70 denier UTC thread, not sure how that compares in size to other size nominations.

Ok,but doesn't the 20 gauge brass wire add to the weight of the jig?

I can weigh it, but a 1/2 inch piece of this wire isn’t going to add anything worth noting.

Yes. First wrap on shaft and second and third wrap on keeper. Also do a couple of reverse wraps on the barb end to lock it good.

Z-man is missing the boat, if they ever came out with a Trout Magnet clone, and tiny jig and wire keeper, you could probably catch 50 fish on one lure...Lol.
