So what power and length Micro Series did you get?
I know you've all been waiting impatiently for an update, so here ya go.
I bought the micro series. Not sure why I overthought such a "cheap" purchase, but in my usual fashion I did. I've used it twice, got skunked once and caught three decent sized BG last night. I was a bit underwhelmed, I assumed it would be exhilarating as compared to my medium power Speedstick. No major difference so far, but I haven't had a chance to use it much.

You didn’t tel what size you bought. I have had or have the micros in almost every size available, and liked them all. Some just fit the way I fish better. If you really want to see them shine, put some 2lb line on a 1000 series reel and your casting distance will really take off. I’ve caught mudfish and bass and cats up to 3 1/2lbs on that line so have confidence you’ll have fun with it. Welcome and keep us posted.

I bought the 4'6 ultralight - this guy:

Caught this guy last night. Just seemed like it was harder to set the hook and it wasn't any more fun reeling it in than my Speedstick. I suppose my expectations of it feeling like a marlin were a bit high, but certainly expected it to be somewhat different.

It's harder to set the hook with a short rod. Also, the short rod gives you more leverage. Ever watch Wicked Tuna? They use short rods. It helps when you're reeling in a 700# tuna.
Longer rods make them feel bigger than they are. My 12' float rods are incredibly fun to play gills on.
As db4d just stated, I would also suggest that a longer rod would be more fun on smaller fish like BG, many folks like 6'-7' rods, and even longer.
I just picked up a 7' UL and a 7' Light power Micro Series this week. I haven't been able to use them yet but can tell from their flex that they are going to be a blast on BG.
Been using a 7' Light in the Micro Series most of this year. I really like it. For the money, it's seems hard to beat. It handles BG to Bass with equal aplomb. You'll surely get more rod bend with the UL version but I'm guessing the Light will be more sensitive and more versatile. Will be interested in hearing your comparisons.
I have a 5' UL bait caster in the series. It's pretty whippy which is good for casting light lure. But it stops oscillating quit quickly compared to some of my old fiberglass rods.
