    Default Chillin With The Gals

Safer is at home but 4 months away from the Grand-babies is difficult. Daughter and son in law have been working from home and being very meticulous with the girls in VA, as have we in our endeavors in TN, but a road trip by us this weekend was much needed by all.

Pools and swings at parks may have lots of crowds now, but their backyard has both, with a pooch and a lake full of Panfish that stay hungry.... minus the people. Pepaw and Grandma’s ideal vacation resort.

Friday afternoon was perfect weather, and I slipped down to the lake to catch a few after supper and the girls were in tow.

A small Cracker, a Gill, and a Crappie all were feared, then touched, then applauded when they swam to their freedom. What fun was that for all, especially me.

Nothing big lives in these waters, but size doesn’t matter here, it is all about fun.

Saturday morning I boarded my trusty steed and paddled my way around the arena in search of some bigger specimens.

More smalls, but most fun for sure. The weapon of choice was the Majorcraft Finetail in 6.3UL. This rod was made for this lake, and XUL would be even better, but the rod used today was on sale at a good price and fits right in to my arsenal on larger TN public waters.

Up close with yet another Speck from Saturday evening, the 3.9lb braid on the Ballistic FW in the 1000 size fits well, and the mealworm Trout Magnet tipped with Chartreuse Waxie was the preferred bait by all.

Fishing, swimming, sliding, what a full day. Stay safe, fish when you can and as I said in the title, this weekend we was just chillin with the gals.

Congrats to you and the Mrs. for getting away and getting to spend such an awesome time with family. Those two young ladies are truly adorable and their innocent wide-eyed wonder with the world is truly a refreshing thing to see. My wife and I have talked about how good it would be to get away from all of the craziness too, but with ever-presence of Covid 19 and all of the racially motivated rioting, looting and pillaging... I'm not sure I have sense enough to know what direction to go in... or how far we might have to go to get away from it. Thanks for sharing your awesome and peaceful time with the gals.

+1 what a great trip and a chance to be with the grands. The little one seemed a little shaky on the pan exam! LOL We haven’t seen enough of ours as well - they are a short hop and we hope to get there this week.

Great trip in more ways than one. I know how y’all felt. We made it to Mother’s Day before Mom and Dad INSISTED that we stop by and see them on their back porch for a few hours. It was well worth it to everyone.

Happy you got to visit with family. Haven't seen my sons in over 3 months. My youngest son and I used to fish usually once a week together but since the Covid outbreak we have not been able to do that. My oldest son has been having physical therapy 3 times a week for the past 3 months and his brother is taking care of him during his rehab. Since they are around lot of folks at hospital during therapy they do not want to chance getting Covid and passing it on to me. This will all pass in time but the sooner the better for all of us.

    Regards
