That looks like a blast. Those are beautiful fish and thank you very much for bringing us the pictures.

I've always been reluctant to even venture into ultralight, much less super ultralight! Just ordered my first ultralight rod last week and awaiting its arrival. Not JDM, but a Fenwick Elite Tech River Runner. Maybe I'll make it to JDM some day.

@Alphahawk, do you mind talking a little bit about your SUL /XUL set-ups? I have enjoyed UL fishing for many years and own several Pflueger Trion UL combos. Are the rods / reels that you use a lot more sensitive? Will they allow you to cast micro baits a lot further than a standard UL set-up? Thanks very much.

He's been talking about them for years. Check out the JDM sticky threads at the top of the Bream forum.

Here's the rod thread that Alphahawk started:

Yes there is current there. Where I was fishing the current will alternate....going down stream then will come back upstream. It depends on how much water they let out at the dam. There is an island and a bend down river that causes this.

The rods I use are as sensitive as they come. The reels are very finely machined and smooth as silk. Since all my reels I use have very shallow spools I do gain a slight advantage of a few extra feet of casting distance. It is the rods that give one an advantage of detecting the bite. If you watch my videos you will notice I never set the hook. These rods have a much faster action than UL rods sold in the states.

I fished those rods years ago....had 4 of them and my son had 2. Great rods...at the time they were selling for 89 bucks....times have changed....LOL.
