It's outing like that that spoil me.
I purchased my SUL and XUL rods for the purpose of giving me a lot of fun with 5-6 inch bluegill......8-9 inch stocker trout. They have proved their worth for sure. Today I boated over 150 bluegill.....redbreast. The vast majority of the fish were 8-8.5 inches. They were chunky fish. I had a 14 inch bonus largemouth and several 12 inch crappie. Had some 8 inch shell cracker and quite a few mixed breed fish. I started out in the lake but there was not a bed to be found. Not sure when that is going to happen in the lake. So I pulled out and hit my trusty spot below the dam. Put the boat in spot lock and proceeded to catch fish almost every cast. Using the Banshee 6 foot super ultra light with the 2.3# test ester line was a whole lot of fun. I guess I could have pulled up to go look for some bigger fish.....maybe find some good shell cracker....but after driving 83 miles I wasn’t going to leave biting fish. Just a fantastic day. I used a Daiwa Gekkabijin 1.5 gram #8 hook dressed with a Sow Bug and Bison colored Trout Magnet. The wind is going to blow hard here the next few days. The next good weather day I’ll be out there again. Life is good!
