I have a 1000 series stradic ci4 and it does not compare to these JDM reels... any reel would do but I sure do like these high end JDM reels

You are probably moving in a new direction I guess, and that will be fun. But you inadvertently convinced me to order an SS 700 to go with an Okuma SST-S-702L Kokanee
rod I ordered. Looking forward to giving it a try.

If UL is what you want, then check out the Okuma Celilo. Been using one for the last three months. I like it very much.

I hope you like it as much as I have. Let me know how it is these days. For the price I may just order another one.

Okuma Avenger series reels have been my go to reels for the last 10 years (10b for my ultra-light rigs, and 15a for my regular trout rods) Sub $40 and amazing customer service.

As many have said, there is no right or wrong. Fish what you’re happy with. It’s your money, spend it on what you want.

The Daiwa Gekkabijin 1000 series would be a gorgeous little reel. The Daiwa Freams would, too...these are JDM ultra light reels. Awesome equipment!!

My sister gave me a Penn Battle II (1000) about 5 years ago and it's a smooth mule of a panfish reel.
