I went back and dug out my SS700 box, and it's made in Thailand. A nice reel I like a lot. Is it as nice as my JDM reels? No, but it wasn't 200 bucks either. If you have the money to spend, by all means get the JDM Ballistic. It is in another category in feel, performance and fit/finish than the SS700. And in price.

You have 3 models out there. A model sold in the USA as a Daiwa Ballistic LT. It has a deep spool....and is a different color than the other 2 models of the the Ballistic and I’m pretty sure it is an older model. Then you have the 19 Ballistic FW LT. It is sold in the states and Japan. Then there is the 19 Ballistic LT....as far as I know it is not sold in USA.

    Regards

I have been looking high and low for a ballistic 19 FW, one in 2000S size low ratio - no joy. Did they even make one?

Actually I already have one. Its a nice reel for the price and a good recommendation. But I get a lot of line twist from it. If I was going to go Shimano I would most likely look at the Stradic.

I agree with Ketchn on the Shimano Sahara reels. Great for the price.
