Upon further inspection, I'm thinking Redear/shellcracker.
I hadn't caught one in so long in this particular pond, I'd forgotten that they are much more yellow than the ones I catch in another pond.
I'm guessing it's some sort if Pumpkin Seed hybrid. What do the experts here say.

That was sort of small. Caught a bunch of small gills and rewears today. Not sure where the big ones were hiding!

Dat der is a shellie from hellie! They will easily concede to a tug-o-war challenge. Awesome tablefare. Known here in the South to occasionally to bump the needle to 3 lbs. or more. Bring a spare set of undies when light stickin' these hombres.
